LASER ASSISTED CANCER OPERATIONS
CASE 1: Mr. V 42 years old motor cycle mechanic from Salem presented with neck swelling, painful ulcer left tonsil and left ear pain of 3 months duration .Punch biopsy of tonsil confirms squamous cell carcinoma. He underwent laser tonsillectomy left and left modified radical neck dissection .in December 2003 followed by irradiation in January 2004. He was able to eat normally and go back to his work within a month of completion of treatment and has remained recurrence fr ee since then.

CASE 2: Mrs.M 58 year old presented with neck mass, stridor at rest of 3 months duration following CT scan and other investigations, the lesion was found to be an extensive malignant growth involving the root of the neck with near total compression of trachea. Tracheostomy was done and small flexometalic endotracheal tube was placed. The mass was found to involve trachea and the left thyroid and the jugular vessels. It was not possible to get any plane of dissection for removing the mass and LASER was used to de-bulk and relieve the tracheal compression. Following surgery she was sent for radiotherapy.
