MENINGOENCEPHALOCELE OF TEMPORAL BONE
Mr.VK 20 years male came with the complaints of decreased hearing and fullness in the right ear following right ear surgery five years back elsewhere. He had an episode of bactrial meningitis treated with IV antibiotics. A CT scan of temporal bone showed a large meningoencephalocele. The Patient had a large defect about 1×1 cm in the tegmen antri. The herniation was dissected out from the mastoid and pushed back into the cranium.

A large septal cartilage was harvested from the patient and fitted between the dura and bone as an ubderlay graft. The ear drum was found to be intact and was not disturbed. Post op patient was asymptomatic. A repeat CT two months later showed stable reconstruction.
